Are you looking to take your Tippmann Custom 98 paintball marker to the next level? If so, you’ve come to the right place! In this article, we will explore various modifications and upgrades that can enhance the performance and customization of your Tippmann Custom 98.
Modifying your marker can be a fun and rewarding experience. From barrels and stocks to scopes and hoppers, there is a wide range of aftermarket accessories available to suit your play style and preferences. Here are the Tippmann Custom 98 mods that I tried personally.
TIPPMANN Sniper 16 Barrel
I was never satisfied with the accuracy of the stock barrel, so I finally decided to get a replacement. By the way, I am absolutely thrilled with this new barrel’s accuracy. Adding a barrel to my 98 Custom really gives it the look of a sniper rifle!. The coolest part is that when I attach the barrel, the Tippmann logo always faces outward and to the left (at least on my marker). I’ve been playing paintball casually for about three years using a Tippmann 98 Custom.
When I noticed is, the balls also travel a longer distance when I shoot them, even from a distance of 110 feet. While I didn’t notice a significant improvement in the distance the balls traveled, the enhanced accuracy and consistency were hard to ignore.
When combined with good quality paintballs of the right size, I would really recommend this barrel to any scenario or woodsball player. I’m really happy with the product’s sturdy build, high-quality finish, great look and feel, and outstanding performance.
Trinity 4×32 Scope
I didn’t use the scope for accuracy purposes, but rather to spot teammates from a long distance during big games. But its be the one of the best upgrades for Tippmann 98 custom paintball marker for target shooting or the weekend battle at your local paintball field. It connects directly in your Tippmann marker receiver rail without any modifications or adapters. Think of it as a spotting scope. The scope has decent eye relief to use it comfortably while wearing a mask.
JT ProShield Mask
Our mask is the most important piece of equipment, It’s not just about protecting your eyes, but it also has a major impact on your performance. Let me tell you, this mask is worth every penny. It ticks all the boxes when it comes to breathability, protection, and field of view.
JT has a solid reputation for making masks that are reliable, comfortable, and customizable, and they’ve nailed it again with this one. The only thing I’d mention is that the mask comes with hard ears, similar to the original version. I was expecting soft ears based on the pictures and designs, so that was a bit of a surprise. Also, the bottom part is made of hard plastic instead of rubber like the Pro Flex. That’s why they call it the “Pro Shield.
Ninja Paintball Carbon Fiber HPA Tank
If you’re on a budget, I recommend going for the JT ProShield mask and pairing it with an Ninja Paintball Carbon Fiber HPA Tank. This combination will give you the biggest improvement in your gear without breaking the bank.
Once you have those sorted, you can start thinking about upgrading your loader for even better performance. I also use this Ninja Paintball Carbon Fiber HPA Tank on my Tippmann 98 Custom with a response trigger and cyclone feed system. Since I shoot a lot, this tank is perfect for my needs. The only downside is that it’s a bit heavy, but that doesn’t bother me much since I’m a lazy and short person.
Tippmann H-01 Remote Line
I received this with my Tippmann 98 custom because I didn’t want an extra 6-8 pounds on my gun from the CO2 tank. The wire is really durable and heavy duty. It will not break easily. I don’t know how others are having problems with this line. I had no leaking problems at all. The thing you have to careful about is that it coils up when gas is running through it so you may need to break it in.
I’m going to try that to see if it at least gets me a greater length. Anyways, you should get this because it’s quick and easy to run this from your gun to your CO2 tank and, since it won’t break and doesn’t leak, it is great to have 6-8 pounds lifted from your arms. This thing is built like a beast, and if it works like I think it should be best mod for Tippmann 98 custom.
Valken Paintball V-MAX Plus Electronic Motorized Loader
I personally purchased this loader with the intention of using it to quickly load my magazines for my Magfed paintball marker. It’s important to note that it actually feeds around 18-20 balls per second, not the advertised 30 balls per second. However, unless you’re extremely fast, it’s unlikely that you’ll shoot 20 balls per second even with a quick response trigger. This loader is a great option for beginners looking for an affordable choice or as a backup hopper for more advanced loaders like the Dye R1/R2 or LTR.
I honestly don’t understand why this loader is often overlooked and underrated. It’s been perfect for me, especially since my field only allows semi-automatic firing with no walking of the trigger. I’ve used it multiple times and haven’t experienced any ball breaks so far. The battery life is also good, but I recommend powering off the loader after games and removing the batteries at the end of the day to preserve their lifespan.
